In order to assure that the Bris will proceed as scheduled, please prepare the following items and have them available for the Bris:
4 disposable diapers
4 dozen 3″x 3″ gauze pads
1 small bottle (clear) baby oil
Baby wipes
2 Large tubes of A & D Ointment (Regular-not with zinc)
1 one-ounce tube of antibiotic ointment (Bacitracin or generic)
Pacifier
These items are available at any drug store. Alternatively, you can have them delivered to your home in a convenient quilted bag by contacting 877BRISBAG.com. Ask for Rabbi Seplowitz’s list. [Please note: There is no financial connection between myself and this company.]
You will also need:
1 Firm pillow (full-sized bed pillow) with pillow case. (Not to be confused with the fancy lace “Bris pillows.” They tend to be too flimsy. If you plan to use a Bris pillow, please bring a regular firm bed pillow as well.)
Table and two chairs
New bottle of KEDEM wine. (Must be SWEET, preferably white)
Change of clothes
Bottle — If the baby is nursing, I recommend preparing some milk (or formula) in a bottle. This will enable the mother to feed the baby while enjoying her guests. (The celebration will be over before you know it!)
Camera — Don’t forget to replace/recharge the batteries, and make sure the camera has plenty of memory/film. (I strongly discourage close-up pictures that will one day embarrass your son. Also, no flash photography during the actual procedure! And no pictures on Saturdays.)
